Cooper, Hunault, Morris named Academic All-MAC

KALAMAZOO--Three members of the Western
Michigan University women's track and field team have been named
Academic All-Mid-American Conference.
Irene Cooper, Ashley Hunault and Sarah Morris
were named to the women's all-conference track and field team for
achieving high levels of success in both athletics and academics this
season. This is the second time Cooper and Hunault have received
Academic All-MAC honors. It is a career first for Morris.
Cooper,
of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., is a junior majoring in early childhood
education and has a 3.34 grade point average. She was one of WMU's top
throwers during the season and finished in fourth place in the hammer
throw at the MAC Championships. She also represented the Broncos at the
NCAA Mideast Regional Championships.
Hunault,
of Alpena, Mich., is a sophomore majoring in psychology and has a
3.72 grade point average. She finished second in the long jump and was
a part of the first-place 4x100-meter relay team at the MAC
Championships. She also represented WMU in the 4x100-meter relay at the
regional championships.
Morris, of Mt.
Pleasant, Mich., is a sophomore majoring in secondary education and has
a 3.22 grade point average. She was consistently WMU's top discus
thrower this season. She threw a personal best 160-08 to win the discus
at the Jack Shaw Invitational, and also competed in the event at the
regional championships.
Academic All-MAC
This
year's Academic All-MAC Outdoor Track and Field women's team is made up
of 33 student-athletes chosen by faculty academic representatives. To
be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
and has to have participated in at least 50 percent of the meets in a
given season. First-year students and junior college transfers in their
first year of residence are not eligible.
